One of the owners of the provincial parks – Moose

Canada is a winter country, but its summers are also a paradise. In other words, Canada has summer as well as winter! With its national parks, national park reserves, provincial parks, conservation areas, lakes, and wilderness, Canada is an incredibly beautiful country. Canada has more lakes than the rest of the world combined ( over 250,000 in Ontario's provincial parks alone !). And the vibrant colors of autumn aren't something you can see in photos; you have to experience it firsthand. I should also mention that I learned to fall in love with autumn in Canada.

Maple leaf – a symbol of Canada.

Canada is a country whose flag features a maple leaf. This means it's a tree-filled nation. Of its 10 million km² surface area, 5 million km², or half, is covered in forests. Because of this, Canadians love outdoor activities and frequently go camping in national and provincial parks. If you plan to camp in a park, it's a good idea to bring your own camping gear .

How to get to Canada?
Considering how large Canada is, it's understandable that getting to one city might not be easy. Therefore, you first need to decide which city you want to go to. Some Canadian cities have direct flights, while most have connecting flights. Direct flights to Toronto Pearson International Airport (IATA: YYZ), the most popular destination, take about 10 hours, while connecting flights to Vancouver International Airport (IATA: YVR), located in the far west of the country, take approximately 20 hours.

The best way to travel within Canada is to own your own vehicle. If you only want to visit certain cities, you can consider taking a domestic flight. However, if you want to travel the whole country, renting a camper van is the best option. After all, this is an outdoor paradise. Staying in your camper van in provincial and national parks is an unparalleled experience.

If you want to use local agencies for certain things, the tours offered by Chinese companies that I took while living in Toronto were both cheap and comfortable. I wholeheartedly recommend them.

List of places to visit in Canada
Canada is made up of 10 provinces and 3 territories.

Vilayetleri (Province): Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Newfoundland & Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island (kısaca PEI).
Territories: Northwest Territory, Yukon, Nunavut.
First of all, let me say this: I had a very hard time compiling this list of places to visit in Canada. Because I felt like if I wrote down a city, the heart of anyone who was left out would be broken. Believe me, there are many more places to visit in my second home country, where I have lived peacefully for 12 years. But if you ask which are the best places to visit for a trip to Canada, here they are:

Toronto

If you're visiting the country for the first time as a tourist, I think you should start your trip in Toronto. Canada's largest city, its commercial center, and the capital of Ontario province , Toronto stands out as the country's cosmopolitan hub with its multicultural structure and vibrant food and drink scene. Included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network under the theme of Media Arts, the city earned this title for its creative economy, ranging from film festivals to digital media initiatives. It's also a highly desirable city for immigrants to live in. Half of Toronto's population consists of immigrants, and it boasts minority neighborhoods such as Chinatown, Greektown, Koreantown, Little Italy, and Little Portugal.

Niagara Falls

Formed 10,000 years ago by depressions caused by ice masses from the Arctic , Niagara Falls is not only the largest waterfall in North America but also one of its most impressive natural wonders. This natural wonder, marking the US-Canada border, consists of three large waterfalls: Horseshoe Falls, American Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls. The falls are best viewed from the Canadian side. There are boat tours that go all the way to the base. If you want to have an amazing experience getting completely soaked, I recommend you don't miss these boat tours. The town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, near the falls, is a very beautiful and touristy place. In fact, I think it's the most beautiful and romantic town you can see in North America. The Niagara Wine Route in the region is also one of the most important places to visit.

Tobermory

Tobermory , located on the Bruce Peninsula in northern Ontario , is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful places to visit around Toronto. It's famous for its turquoise waters resembling the sea and its shipwrecks. Therefore, it's also quite popular for freshwater scuba diving, provided you can dive in water colder than 15°C!

Located at the northern tip of the Bruce Peninsula, Fathom Five National Marine Park forms part of the Niagara Escarpment. UNESCO declared the Niagara Escarpment a Biosphere Reserve in 1990, which includes Fathom Five National Marine Park and Bruce Peninsula National Park.

Fathom Five National Marine Park – Flowerpot Island

One of the area's famous landmarks is Manitoulin Island , a Native American settlement . It's considered sacred by the Canadian First Nations (though they don't like being called Native Americans). Six First Nations communities live on the island. If you happen to catch a pow wow, their traditional dance performances in costume, you'll be in for a treat.

Agawa Canyon

Agawa Canyon is located in the Algoma District of Ontario, 183 km northwest of Sault Ste. Marie. This shallow canyon was formed 1.2 billion years ago by subsidence along the Canadian Shield and later by erosion from the Agawa River. The Agawa Canyon Wildlife Park, where the canyon is located, is only accessible by hiking trails and the Agawa Central Railway. If you don't plan on trekking to Agawa Canyon, prepare for one of Canada's most enjoyable train journeys, as the Agawa train takes you on a journey through breathtaking scenery.

Ottawa

Ottawa is the capital and fourth-largest city of Canada. Canada doesn't have a federal capital district; it's a municipality within a province. The city of Ottawa is situated on the Ontario side of the Ottawa River, which separates the provinces of Quebec and Ontario. When I think of Ottawa, the first thing that comes to mind is an activity that warms the heart and soul in a city heavily affected by the cold winter days: ice skating on the Rideau Canal! From children who start skating on the ice before they even learn to walk, to those who skate to work, to those who declare their love on the ice – in short, every Ottawan experiences this special adventure on the canal. The Rideau Canal is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Ottawa

Despite living in Canada for 12 years, I never managed to become truly Canadian; I neither learned ice skating nor developed a love for winter sports. I could only admire the dazzling ice sculptures created during the Winterlude Festival. My love for winter remained akin to the saying, "loving you from afar is the most beautiful kind of love." But if you ask the people of Ottawa, there's no bad weather, just the wrong clothing choices. You bet!

Montreal
Montreal , the largest city in Quebec Province, is Canada's second-largest city. After Paris , it's the second most French-speaking city in the world, and one of North America's most beautiful. It's a UNESCO Creative Cities network known for its design. In Montreal, creativity is evident in many areas, from street art and festivals to modern architecture and innovative design workshops. Montreal is renowned for hosting numerous international events, including the 1976 Summer Olympics and Expo 67. Its cultural activities and festivals, such as cinema (Montréal Film Festival) and music (Montréal Jazz Festival), place it among the world's leading cities.

This place also has historical significance. The French explorer and traveler Jacques Cartier, between 1534 and 1536, entered the Gulf of Saint-Laurent, advanced as far as the present-day city of Montreal, and discovered Kanata. Cartier later named the country Kanata, which means "village or settlement" in Native American languages.

Mont Tremblant
If you want to see both natural beauty and man-made beauty, you should add Mont Tremblant to your Canadian tour itinerary. The town, filled with colorful buildings, gives you the impression of stepping onto a movie set. It is also known for hosting Formula One, Can-Am, Trans-Am, and Champ Car World Series races.

The incredibly majestic Mount Tremblant was named by the indigenous Algonquin people, meaning "trembling mountain." Located at the foot of the 875-meter-high Mont Tremblant, the 269-hectare Mont Tremblant Ski Resort is considered one of the top 10 ski resorts in the world.

Québec City
Quebec City , the capital of the French province of Quebec, is a city whose historic district has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1985. It is also included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network for its literary theme. Quebec City is famous for its Winter Festival, featuring ice sculptures, the historic Château Frontenac Hotel, whose silhouette is synonymous with the city, and the Hôtel de Glace (Ice Hotel), where guests sleep on beds of ice. However, I vowed to myself not to visit Quebec City in winter and not to stay at the Ice Hotel, as winter isn't for me. Nevertheless, I must admit that Quebec City, with its natural beauty and culture, is by far the most impressive city not only in Canada but also in North America.

Miguasha National Park in Quebec province is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. Anticosti Island, home to 450-million-year-old fossils, is also a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.

Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia is a place where you can feel the wilderness to your core. Located on the southeastern coast of Canada, Nova Scotia is the country's second-smallest province. It was one of the founding provinces of the Canadian Confederation, formed in 1867. The most popular places in the province are the capital Halifax and the Cabot Trail, considered one of Canada's most scenic trails. The most popular activity is whale watching tours in the Atlantic Ocean. The Grand Pré in the province is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Historic City of Lunenberg is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Joggins Fossil Rock is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.

LIKE
Prince Edward Island (PEI) is one of the provinces of Eastern Canada and the Maritimes in Canada. The Canadian Confederation originated in Charlottetown , the capital of PEI , making the city historically significant. PEI is most popular with golf enthusiasts. Since I'm not interested in golf, I was drawn to other things when I came here, such as its nature and red soil. Also, the Green Gables farmhouse in Cavendish is a popular tourist attraction. The house inspired the famous children's novel Anne of Green Gables, written by Lucy Maud Montgomery.

I should also mention that you are in one of Canada's cold provinces. Therefore, it would be beneficial to visit during the short summer season, i.e., in July or August.

New Brunswick
New Brunswick, one of the three Maritimes provinces in Eastern Canada, is the only province in the country with two official languages. The provincial capital is Fredericton . Its most popular attraction is the Hopewell Rocks, which experience high tides. The region is also famous for its whale-watching boat trips.

Newfoundland
Newfoundland is an island near the eastern tip of the North American continent. It is also part of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. With its capital in St. John's, Newfoundland is the 16th largest island in the world and the 4th largest in Canada, covering an area of 108,860 km². Gros Morne National Park, with its stunning fjord and mountain scenery, is a true outdoor paradise. It's perfect for hikers and canoeists. The rock formation, which sheds light on the layers of the earth's crust, clearly reveals the process of continental drift. Gros Morne National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition, L'Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. Red Bay Basque Whaling Station is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. Mistaken Point Ecological Reserve is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.

Aside from its natural beauty and historical sites, Newfoundland is best known for its people, who are the subject of "Newfie" jokes, much like our Laz jokes. Laz = Newfie.

Vancouver
Vancouver is a port city in British Columbia (BC) in western Canada and the country's third-largest metropolis. The city is predominantly inhabited by diverse ethnic groups, particularly Asian immigrants. Vancouver is a popular destination for those seeking to swim along the Pacific Ocean, participate in whale watching tours, and enjoy unique scenery. Stanley Park, within the city, is considered one of the most beautiful parks in the world. With its peaceful environment, diverse plant life, and Native American totems, the park is seen as a paradise stretching into the Pacific Ocean.

Vancouver

SG̱ang Gwaay Llnagaay (Ninstints), located on the northern coast of BC province, is an area inhabited by the Haida Indians. It is notable for its monumental totems and cedar wood houses. Ninstints is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
